The Otero County Detention Center will have commissary services available to provide convenience items to all inmates. This may be done by a contracted commissary provider. Commissary orders may have a dollar limit that each inmate can spend and some items may be limited in the amount that can be ordered. Commissary items include snacks, hygiene items, clothing and writing materials.
Privilege
However, commissary is considered a privilege and the rights to commissary may be withheld for disciplinary purposes, therefore Inmates on disciplinary action may have commissary privileges suspended for a determined amount of time.
Immediate Access
When a deposit is made to an inmate commissary account, the inmate has immediate access to that deposit.
Ordering Items
There must be funds in the account to place an order. Commissary is ordered over the telephone and delivered once per week.
Hygiene Items
Indigent inmates will be provided basic hygiene items.
Fit in Tote Box
All Commissary items that are ordered must fit in the tote box that is provided for each inmate.
