Otero County Drug Free Work Place Policy
Otero County is concerned with the well-being of its employees, the successful accomplishment of its missions, and the need to maintain employee productivity. The intent of this policy is to offer a helping hand to those who need it, while sending a clear message that any illegal drug use, or alcohol abuse, is simply incompatible with Otero County's service.
Policy Information
The Otero County work place policy shall include the following types of drug/alcohol testing:
- Applicant/Pre-employment testing (drug only)
- Random testing, for safety sensitive positions, including but not limited to law enforcement personnel and DOT licensees
- Reasonable suspicion testing
- Accident or unsafe practice testing
- Voluntary testing
- Testing as part of or as a follow-up to counseling or rehabilitation.
Further, Otero County has established a Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Policy. Both policies in their entirety are available in the new hire (employee) handbook and by request.
