Mission Statement

To provide accurate, efficient, fair, courteous and transparent service to the taxpayers of Otero County in the collection and safekeeping of property tax revenues and other county revenues.

Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm


Taxes are due in 2 installments:

First half due November 10 ; delinquent after December 10 

Second half is due April 10 ; delinquent after May 10

Return payment (checks, ACH, CC’s) ...... $35.00

This charge will cover the processing cost of the return items.

Purchase of Tax Roll to Tax Service Companies..... $100.00

This fee will be charged for processing and sending of current tax rolls on a USB or emailed as a “txt” file to Tax Service Companies for payment of taxes through mortgage companies.

*per hour 

Purchase of a modified tax roll...... $50.00

This fee will be charged for the processing and sending of a modified tax roll and emailed as a “txt’ file upon written request.

Mobile Home Movement Certificate/Permit (sticker) ... $10.00

Pursuant to Otero County Ordinance the Treasurer is authorized to impose a fee for the issuance and re-issuance of the permit (sticker).

Cost of Otero County Personal Property (Mobile Home) Sale

The administration and enforcement of delinquent personal property ad valorem taxes is authorized by New Mexico Statues 7 38-51,52,53,54,55, & 56.

The delinquent personal property tax sale is authorized by New Mexico Statues 7-38-57,58 & 59.

The County Treasurer is authorized to recover any cost incurred in preparing for the sale. To cover all additional costs of preparing for the personal property tax sale, the Otero County Treasurer is enforcing the following fees:

Delinquent Personal Property Tag  Delivery /Service fee.... $20.00

This charge would be for delivering the notice for accounts that are delinquent for 60 days after a 3 (three) year delinquency.

Demand Warrant Processing  Fee............... $50.00

This charge would be for delivering the notice for accounts that are

delinquent for 90 days after a 3 (three) year delinquency.

Sale preparation Fee.......................................... $150.00

 




 

To cover expenses for preparing mobile home for auction 7-38-58. Imposed and owed after owner fails to pay or reneges on installment payment contract after being served with the Demand Warrant.
