S.A.R.T.: The primary mission of the Otero County SART team is to meet the needs of the sexual assault victim by providing immediate, compassionate, culturally sensitive and comprehensive forensic evaluation and treatment by trained professional nurse experts.
How the Program Works
The SANE Program provides kind and gentle care for a sexual assault victim.
We offer victims privacy and timely treatment in a calm, quiet and safe setting.
Treatment is provided by specially trained nurses and rape crisis advocates.
The nurse will perform the medical sexual assault exam. The rape crisis advocate
will provide emotional support and information to the victim and their family
and friends during the exam process.
